Easter 2003 (c)
After some indecision, we decided to do the full walk and continued on towards Tokatu Point, passing the easy looking Fisherman's Track on the left and the short track to Maori Bay on the right. I popped up to have a look and took some photos of shadows, but they were not that good!
So it was onto the trig station where someone (nameless) was running out of steam so the older lads went along the fairly flat track out to the point, which is worth a visit for the view.
There is a steady slow descent to the beach on the north side of the peninsula along the North Coast Track. I was keen to follow the ecology trail down but got out-voted. The views on the beach are really nice.
There are caves and hillocks and all sorts of stuff any young lad like me (well, maybe young at heart) can enjoy.
The walk back from the beach to the car was a bit ho-hum but there were pukeko and other marsh birds, then coastal birds like reef herons around the lagoon.
