Easter 2003 (b)
On the 19th we drove to Omaha, had a gawk at all the flash houses without public amenities and then on yo Tawharanui Regional Park where we took the South Coast Track past the lagoon and headed up along the peninsular.
Walk past the lagoon, cross the stile and head up the hill for some lovely views. Turn onto the South Coast Track (not the Maori Bay Coast Walk) and one is rewarded with great views of Kawau Island and the Hauraki Gulf.
At times it is a little bit up and down, but the scenery changes frequently from pasture, coastal cliffs, lush bush, open park and groves of manuka.
Various birds (including Paradise Duck pairs) were seen but no good photos resulted except near the exit!
We had luch looking out to Kawau.
