Day 4 (Friday 5th March 2010): The morning brought two surpises, a mist that was quite photogenic and evidence that the possums around here were smarter than the hunters - one had got the apple and escaped without any sign of difficulty. The hunters were off early, hoping for some luck, allowing us time and space to pack and depart at our ease. I still managed to leave behind an expensive tramping T-shirt and my stretchy zip puttees (gaiters), only identified after crossing 8 contour lines (160m) so I wasn't about to go back, particularly as that T-shirt trapped body odours and the gaiters were well past their use by date (having been repaired by Graham last tramp). The really funny thing was that John S had already accidently hooked the T-shirt on his poles and then had taken it back to the hut!
