Day 3 (Thursday 4th March 2010): I decided to sleep on the veranda to allow more room inside and so I had the opportunity to photograph sunrise. The hunters in the hut were off early to try to bag some deer (without success).

Harkness Hut JS0745
We had lunch at Harkness - a lovely hut in which I had previously stayed. It was a pity we had to press on to Tussock, particularly as it was "over subscribed" with more trampers (and hunters) than bunks.

Dining out tonight JS0838
We were two beds short, so John S camped out under his new fly while I tried the veranda again, but the dew was intense, so I took the mattress inside, where we were regailed with beer and venison stories.
Dinner was soup followed by Vindaloo Curry Beef mince and vegetables on rice folllowed by dried fruit dessert.
