After arriving at Boyd Lodge, we all decided to "take the view" from the rocks above (some missed out on a prior Kaimanawa tramp). This is an absolute MUST see view. From Boyd we recrossed the Ngaruroro River a last time to climb over the gentle Waitawhero Saddle into the Oamaru system. It is pleasant beech forest and river valleys to Oamaru, then north into the Kaimanawa Forest proper up the Kaipo and the now familiar fairly steady 460m climb to Te Iringa.
