Evan Lloyd Blayney
(Ieuan Llwyd ap Gruffudd ap Ievan Blaene)

born 1450 died ?

Son of Giffith Blayney.

Esquire of the body to Henry VII and Steward of the manors of Kerry, Cedewain, Arwystli and Cyfeiliog> Mistakenly given as Constable of Montgomery Castle. [71] but this was in fact his father-in-law Meredith ap Rees [145].

See Evan.html gen 3 for Evan Lloyd Blayney's genealogy (ancestors & descendants).

Other than being the grandfather of of David Lloyd BLAYNEY, the ancestor of the Blayney Lords and most US Blayneys; the grandfather of Morus BLAYNEY, the ancestor of most London Blayneys (and my ancestor); Evan Lloyd was the father of Mabli BLAYNEY. who married Gruffydd Derwas, Esquire of the Body to King Henry VI and second son of Howel Selyf (or Sele), 7th Lord of Nannau and 9th in descent from Bleddyn ap Cynfyn, Prince of Powys.

According to the LORDS OF NANNAU & OWEN GLYNDOWER web page [75], Howel Selyf, 7th Lord of Nannau died in 1402, undoubtedly murdered (by Owen Glyndwr [229]), as his skeletal remains were found in a hollow tree 40 years later. The Lord apparently haunted the mansion house of Nannau for over 400 years until Ceubren-yr-Ellyl [the hollow tree of the spirit] toppled over [228] in 1813 [229].

The Lords of Nannau descended from Cadwgan ap Bleddyn (d.1111), a younger son of Prince Bleddyn ap Cynfyn of Powys, who crossed the Cambria Mountains Northwest of Powys to found Nannau (Origin of Nanney, Nancey, Yanney and Yancey clans). [528]. Cadwgan's son, Griffith (Gruffydd) ap Cadwygan married Gwenllian ferch Dafydd ap Owen Gwynedd (Prince of Wales).

Gruffydd and Mabli had two children and Gruffydd subsequently married Angharad.
