Monday 7th March 2011: From Middy Creek Hut it is a pleasant stroll above the true right bank of the Pelorus, with swing bridges over the Fishtail Stream then the Pelorus itself, shortly before Captain Creek. While on the true left bank we have to ford the actual Captain Creek before ariving at the hut, sitting on a terrace above a lovely beach on the river. |

With plenty of time we washed, collected firewood (mainly driftwood), read, played, acted and fought off hoards of sandflies! Of more interest were other fauna such as South Island Robins, German wasps, a trout and a roving Dutchman doing "The Long Pathway" (Te Araroa) who stopped for a quick swim and satellite link to his girlfriend. |
