The route around Loch Maree may have been "upgraded" to an all-weather track, but some found it very hard going. The glimpses of the "still, black waters, stubbled with relics of a drowned forest" were quite dangerous as there were hidden logs on the track one smaked into if distracted! Ducks and swans abound.
The Loch Maree Hut sits on a little scenic peninsular a little further around the Loch than the sore legs would like! At least there are fewer sandflies.

Day 4: (Tues 09/03/04) -- Loch Maree Hut to Lake Roe Hut (5 hours)
After a short distance along the peninsular, over a long "walkwire" crossing the Seaforth, then up a gentle rise we struck the steep (at times vertical) 900 metre climb through beech towards the tops.

Reaching the bushline was only the first stage, there was still qite a climb to get to the ridge of the Pleasant Range dotted with tarns and lakes. We met a bunch of Israelis coming the other way and they took our "team" pictures. They confirmed more up before much down!
