Day 5: (Wednesday 15/03/06) This time we had a fine day, in fact the weather remained good the rest of the tramp.

The track passes through thick forest for a while (with various interesting moss & fungi), but then drops to a rocky stream that has clearly been a torrent that has washed out significant amounts of trees as well as rock. Beyond this the track leads into the open grassland known as Cattle Flat. The numerous Barrier Range peaks on our right and the Forbes Mountains on our left presented a magnificent backdrop. I wasn't consulting my map so please correct any geographical feature identity errors.

Streams off the Forbes Range have cut deeply into the terraces adding some variety to the flat terrain. Cattle Flat isn't horizontal making it hard to photograph accurately, or to decide if a photographer has or hasn't unknowingly tilted the camera!
There's another pixie in 521 JS, oh no, its Alan down in a gully!

It was difficult to put the cameras away, but I do advise stopping when taking a photo - I tripped on a rock and landed on my outstretched left hand (yes the camera was OK!), almost dislocating the shoulder. I'm still not 100% a month later!

After lunch it was back into bush and a steady descent to the river. Quinns Flat is an isolated pleasant grassy area with a backdrop of mountains that leads on to another section of flat bush before reaching Daley's Flat.
