Tuesday 10th March 2015: Our walk this day was to the last provided accommodation, sited at Otanerito. Looking back at the southern head of Stony Bay (Short Reef Point), one can see a daring ladder access. Further on one drops into Sleepy Bay (with waterfall and more seals), and a Sea Stack which until the 2010 earthquakes was a sea arch. Other trampers doing the same walk came from Switzerland, Norway and Holland.

The falls at Sleepy Bay not that spectacular but are worth the side trip to witness the attempts people make to overcome that failing.
As we climbed along the left (north-east) headland we could look back at the Sea Stack (a Sea Arch before 2011).

The descent into Otanerito Bay takes one into kanuka (as well as ngaio and kawakawa), bush, before reaching the lovely house and gardens back from a sandy beach. The bush around the home is full of birdlife with lots of pigeon (Kereru)
